I am on the road again – not 120 miles but 3,400 miles this time. New York again for work. As usual I travel on a Saturday in order to get the discounted airfare. Breakfast is being served at the British Airways Galleries Club Lounge. I am trying to be healthy and hence went for grapefruits and tomato juice.
However, I spotted a couple of little old ladies ahead who have had no hesitation starting on the champagne at 10.30am!
When I get to that age, please let me be like them!
I got on my plane and was pretty excited as this was my first time on the Upper Deck of the 747. I have a good friend who introduced me to SeatGuru.com which lists the seating plan of every plane in operation for all the major airlines. That website will tell you the best seats to go for and the ones that are less desirable. I did not get to choose the best seat on this trip but I was still pretty chuffed with the experience.
The space is cosier with less passengers in this section. The overhead lockers are much smaller than the normal ones downstairs. My roll-on bag would not fit in there but that was not a problem as the stewards were happy to stow my bag in a compartment at the top of the stairs.
With the little old ladies in mind, I thought I should be okay to start on my champagne now. I made a silent toast to those two ladies who have made me chuckle this morning and I hoped they will have an outrageous trip wherever they have gone to.
Here’s to growing old enjoying life in all its glory!
