I have travelled to many places from Asia to the Caribbean and I have concluded that Antigua has the most clear and blue seas around the island. I now know why it is regarded as the best of the Caribbean islands by many.
We are staying at a resort called Jolly Beach. This resort has both an all-inclusive hotel and a section with self-catering apartments. I do like the 2 bedroom apartment we are staying in. It is well equipped, has a lovely sitting room and a balcony looking out to the sea. I was happy to have the option to cook but as it was a holiday, we ate out a lot. There was a lovely marina nearby with restaurants at the pier.
The best thing we did on getting to this resort was to hire a golf buggy for the duration of out stay. That buggy was so much fun to drive around and I must admit we took great joy in zooming around as fast as we could. As the resort was pretty large, the buggy was a great help getting us to the beach quickly and to the marina for our breakfast at the Crow’s Nest.
We are truly enjoying the warmth and even the occasional downpours. We have learnt how to sail and went out ourselves on the boat and surprised ourselves that we managed to sail back in a reasonable time! We zoomed like maniacs on water bikes. We braved the rain at Shirley Heights last night and danced to the steel band music and the local band too.
Dinner at OJ’s with a fantastic sunset. Wonderful lobsters cooked in garlic and chili.
