Last stop Bucharest
This was our last long drive from Transylvania to Bucharest. We stayed in the centre of Bucharest, very near to the Old Town area which has a variety of beautiful buildings and interesting sculptures. This area also has an abundance of restaurants with tables set up on the cobbled streets outside so you can enjoy the sunshine and cool breeze whilst watching people walking past. Beautiful Sibiu
The centre of Sibiu is truly beautiful with the usual beautiful buildings and there are many restaurants set up along the pedestrianised cobbled roads and at the side of the main square. Alex introduced us to a Romanian snack called Gogoasa - it was like a large deep fried dumpling filled with chocolate sauce. The texture is similar to a donut. Sunset in Medias
After the salt mine trip, we headed back to Medias to have lunch at Alex's favourite pizza place. We finally get to eat the amazing pizzas Alex has been harping over the last 4 years whilst he was in London, comparing these pizzas with Dominos & Pizza Express. Turda Salt Mine
The Salt Mines in Turda has to be one of the most amazing sights in Romania. We started with a long walk in an underground passage into the mountains. The walls further in have a white sheen of salt. And then you get a glimpse of the top of the cavern with its stripes of salt on its walls. As we venture further, we could look down and see parts of the main cavern.
